Common Terms in Texas Hold'em Poker Lingo

Texas Hold'em Poker is the most popular card game played in casinos today. It is true that Texas Hold'em Poker is one of the many variants of community card poker. There would be a certain number of cards available to each player. Generally the game is played by at least two and up to ten players.
Like other poker games, players conceal their cards - thereby making the central pot much bigger. This is probably the big reason why poker has grown to be one of the most popular card games around. A player is not ultimately sure whose hand is much higher.
Like other poker games, when Texas Hold'em Poker players' bets go up the central pot gets bigger and the player that can last longer or with the best card combination wins the pot money. Often, casinos use the central pot to attract gamblers of all sorts.
Let's talk about card ranking. In Texas Hold'em Poker the Ace is the highest card and the 2 card is the lowest. The rest of the cards are ranked accordingly.
Every Poker variation ranks the suits in their own particular order. For Texas Hold'em Poker the ranks of the suits don't matter.
As the game commences each player will be dealt with two cards. These are called the Hole cards. These cards are first played face down. Here are some terms you would hear during this and other subsequent stages of a Texas Hold'em Poker game.
Pair - this means a poker player has a pair of cards with a same rank.
Suited - this means the poker player have a two cards with a same suit of cards.
Offsuit would mean that a poker player has cards that don't have the same rank or suit of cards.
Flop would refer to the first three cards the dealer will place face-up to the board. When the Flop is shown in a Texas Hold'em Poker game this would indicate that the betting would start.
After first round of betting there will be a second card revealed by the dealer (i.e. Turn). This would indicate the second round of betting.
As soon as the second round of betting ends the dealer will reveal the last card. This is called the River card. After the River is shown there will be several possible bets can be concluded in the game.
When the Dealer reveals the River the action starts to boil on the table. Texas Hold'em Poker players make combinations with the cards in their hand and those that the dealer had shown them. This stage is called the Showdown.
